Your WebDAV server, next to your buckets.
Connect Nextcloud, ownCloud, a Synology NAS, Fastmail or any other WebDAV server, and work with its files the way you work with S3 in Stream Vessel.
Connect
What you need for your server
A WebDAV connection takes the server's address, your user name and a password. Pick your server in the dialog and Stream Vessel shows the address it expects.
| Server | Address | Password |
|---|---|---|
| Nextcloud | https://cloud.example.com/remote.php/dav/files/<user>/ |
Press Sign in at your server in the dialog and approve Stream Vessel there, or create an app password under Settings › Security and paste it. |
| ownCloud | https://cloud.example.com/remote.php/dav/files/<user>/ |
An app password: Settings › Security, then create a new app password. |
| Synology | https://nas.example.com:5006/, with the WebDAV Server package enabled in DSM |
Your DSM account password: DSM has no app passwords. With two-factor sign-in on, WebDAV may refuse it; a separate DSM account for Stream Vessel avoids that. |
| Fastmail | https://myfiles.fastmail.com/ |
An app password: Settings › Privacy & Security › App passwords. |
| Other WebDAV server | The WebDAV address your server or host gives you | The user name and password the server asks for. An app password or a separate account is safer than your main password where the server offers one. |

- Rename, move, copy and delete. A move or rename within the server happens on the server, without downloading anything.
- Copy between WebDAV and S3. Open the server next to a bucket and drag or paste to copy files across.
- Edit text in place. Open a text or code file, edit it and save it back to the server.
FAQ
WebDAV questions
Where do I find my WebDAV address?
Nextcloud and ownCloud show it in the Files app, under Files settings at the bottom left. On a Synology NAS it is your NAS address with the WebDAV Server port, 5006 for HTTPS. Fastmail uses
https://myfiles.fastmail.com/. Other servers list it in their help or account settings.Which password should I use?
An app password where the server has them (Nextcloud, ownCloud, Fastmail): it only reaches files and can be revoked on its own. Synology and many other servers only take the account password; use a dedicated account if you can.
Where is the password stored?
On your device only, in the Chrome extension or the desktop app. Stream Vessel connects from your device straight to your server; nothing passes through our servers.
Can I use plain http?
Only for a server on the same computer, at
127.0.0.1. Any other address must use https, so your password never travels unencrypted.Does WebDAV work in Stream Vessel Cloud?
Not yet. WebDAV connections are made in the Chrome extension and the desktop app.
